Summary

The Reserve Bank of India, or RBI, is the country's central bank. Every year, the organization holds recruitment exams to fill various positions. The exam is held to direct recruitRBI Officers Grade Bin Combined Seniority Group (CSG) streams. For the RBI Officer Grade B exam, candidates must be between the ages of 21 and 30 years.This year, there are 60 vacancies for the Manager (Grade B) posts across General, DEPR, and DSIM streams.

RBI Grade B exam has athree-phaseselection process for Officer Grade B (General). For RBI Officer Grade B (General) candidates must clear Phase-I, Phase-II of the exam, and the final interview process.

Candidates who pass all these selection procedures will be considered for the RBI Officer Grade B positions in its various branches all across the country. The RBI Officer Grade B Exam 2026 will be held online as a computer-based examination and offline as a descriptive (pen and paper mode).

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Educational Qualifications(As of April 1, 2026):

RBI Officer Grade B (General)

Graduation in any discipline/professional qualification or equivalent technical with at least 60 percent marks (50 percent for SC/ST/PwBD candidates) or Post-Graduation/Equivalent technical qualification with at least 55 percent marks (passing marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates) in aggregate of all semesters/years.

Note:

Graduation Level

Any such course from a recognised University / Institute that is taken after ClassXII and is at least of 3 years’ duration/ candidates possessing professional or technical qualifications which are recognised by the Government as equivalentto professional or technical graduation will be eligible for admission to theexamination, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above.

Post-Graduation Level

Any such course from a recognised University / Institute that is taken afterGraduation and is at least of 2 years’ duration / recognised by the Governmentas equivalent to professional or technical Post-graduation will be eligible foradmission to the examination, subject to obtaining minimum marks prescribed above.

Number of Attempts:

General/EWS: Maximum 6 attempts for the Phase 1 exam.

SC/ST/OBC/PwBD: No restriction on the number of attempts.

Age Limit(As of April 1, 2026):

Minimum: 21 years

Maximum: 30 years (Born between April 2, 1996, and April 1, 2005).

Relaxation: 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST, and 10–15 years for PwBD. Candidates with M.Phil. and Ph.D. have an upper limit of 32 and 34 years, respectively.

Exam Pattern

Scheme of RBI Office Grade B Selection Procedure:

The recruitment process will be divided into the following phases:

Important Note:

I. The question papers will be of the multiple option type.

II. One mark has been allotted for each question.

III. The questions will be written in both Hindi and English.

IV. Each test will be given its separate time slot.

V. Candidates must get the minimum marks prescribed by the Board for each test individually as well as in aggregate

@For both Paper-I and Paper-III, there will be 30 questions and 50 marks for Objective questions (some questions carrying 2 marks each and some carrying 1 mark each). In case of Descriptive questions, 6 questions will be asked, of which candidates will be required to attempt 4 questions [2 of 15 marks each (with varying difficulty level) and 2 of 10 marks each]. In case, candidate answers more than 4 questions in descriptive, first 4 shall be evaluated.

Interview:

Applicants will be shortlisted for interviews based on the sum of their Phase-II marks (Paper-I + Paper-II + Paper-III). The Board shall determine the minimal aggregate cut-off marks for being shortlisted for an interview based on the number of vacancies. The interview will be worth 75 points.

Before presenting for the interview, the candidate must pass a psychometric test conducted by the bank. There will be no scores awarded for this, and it will not be considered as part of the final selection criterion. The candidate has the option of having the interview in Hindi or English. The final selection will be made using a merit list created by aggregating the marks obtained by applicants in the Phase-II examination and interview, as well as any grace marks that may be available under current guidelines.
